DNSeattle attracts large crowd in domain name hotbed

Over 100 people attended event in downtown Seattle.

Last week I traveled to Seattle for the DNSeattle meetup. This year’s event was hosted at Amazon.com’s “Living Room”, which is a great facility for a meetup.

Amazon.com is one of the larger players in the new top level domain name business (when it comes to the number of top level domain names owned). The company is getting ready to launch .bot.

More than 100 people attended the event, including people from Seattle-based domain name companies such as Donuts, Rightside and Epik. Seattle is truly the center of the domain name world when it comes to the number of domain name companies.

DNSeattle organizer Mike Cyger interviewed domain name broker Andrew Rosener on stage during the three-hour event. The party then moved to a nearby bar until midnight. Unfortunately, I had to catch a flight back to Austin that night and couldn’t stay for much of the afterparty.

Proceeds from the event benefitted the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

The audience listens to Michael Cyger interview Andrew Rosener.

DJ STATN, aka Rightside lawyer Statton Hammock, performs during the meetup.
